The Space:
Lower level of newly built two level guest house. 3 air-conditioned bedrooms, two full baths with standing showers, living room with 60 inch TV, dining room, kitchen, porch and a private laundry room equipped with a front loading washer and dryer for your convenience.
Your master bedroom features a King size bed, huge closet and your own private bathroom. Utilize our safety drawer with keys to protect your valuables.
Your second bedroom features a Queen sized bed, large closet & a safety drawer with keys to protect your valuables. Your third bedroom has another Queen sized bed and 1 closet. The second bathroom is conveniently situated between these two rooms.
Your living room comes with a 60 inch TV with cable channels such as ESPN, CNN, & NICK JR. Your living room opens to a private porch with garden views of the property.
Your kitchen is fully equipped with granite counter tops, stove, refrigerator, microwave and a double sink.
We provide toiletries, towels, and linens.
The lower floor has its own private entrance and exit for your privacy. Come visit LUCINA's; your San Ignacio experience awaits.
Guest Access:
There is a private entrance to the upper floor. You will have full access to the entire suite, veranda and laundry room. Free internet WiFi is available along with a 60" flat screen mounted TV for your enjoyment. Although the majority of our guests do not rent a car, car parking is available to accommodate a vehicle. (Taxis are available two streets away).
Interaction with Guests:
Lucina's is a locally owned family run business started by Marie DePaz, who passed on the business to her two children. Lucina is the middle name of her daughter. Owners are not always on the property during your stay. Lucina's has self check in and out for your convenience. There is a lock box to access the keys anytime after 4pm. Once you arrive, we have an offsite caretaker that will pass by at your convenience to do a walk thru. Keys are to be put back in the lock box upon check-out.
The Neighborhood:
Some of the best ruins of Maya cities are located in Cayo District near our home, LUCINA's. LUCINA's is an ideal location for a variety of day trip options. Xunantunich maya ruins features an enormous pyramid temple soaring high above the jungle floor and is about 15 minute drive from our home. The ruins of Cahal Pech (a 5 minute drive away), once the home to Maya elites, lies on a gorgeous setting overlooking the Macal River. Further out, the ruins of Caracol are situated at higher altitudes in the Mountain Pine Ridge area of the Chiquibul National Park. Perhaps the most famous of all ancient Maya sites, the towering city of Tikal, is located just across the border from Cayo District in neighboring Guatemala. In addition, a 2 minute taxi ride can take you to enjoy vibrant San Ignacio downtown and its popular open-air market where you can pick up fruits and other cultural delights!
Getting Around:
Our guests are allowed one gated parking spot for their vehicle. LUCINA's is located just a few steps away from a local taxi pick up location, when exiting from the backyard. Taxi contact information for convenient pick up and drop offs is provided. Maya Walk tour company provides pick up and drop off when you book your tours with them. All information provided after booking.
